What age does my child need to be to begin playing for the Iona Soccer Club?

We offer age groups accommodating players as young as 3yrs old.

How are the age groups determined?

Ages are determined by the players date of birth every fall.  The age group of the player in the Fall season, will carry onto the Spring season as well.  Click below to view the age group chart showing what level your child should play.

When does the season begin?

The Fall season begins in mid August. The Spring season begins in mid March.

When are practices held?

Practice days and times will be determined by the coaching staff. There are two  practices per week and they are held Monday through Thursday after 5:00PM.

All games are held on Saturdays, with the exception of a possible Sunday game. Some makeup games have been held during the weeknight, at the coaches discretion.

What size ball is needed?

U5/U7 use a size 3 ball
U9/U11 use a size 4 ball
U13 and up use a size 5 ball

Are the teams coed?

U5 & U7 teams are all coed.  U9 and over are only coed if there are not enough players to make a team, or we have an over abundance of players. We do our best to make sure everyone has a team to play on.

Do I need experience playing soccer to coach?

No. The most important part of coaching is enthusiasm!  If you are willing to dedicate your free time, we have experienced club members that will be more then willing to help you get started.

What gear is required for indoor Futsal?

Accepted Answer

Futsal is played indoors on a basketball style court. Normal shoes or indoor soccer shoes are best. Also, shin guards are required.
